Dr Sam Korman, Consultant Psychiatrist

Dr Sam Korman is a Brisbane-based consultant psychiatrist with over 18 years’ experience in private psychiatric practice.
He works in private practice in general adult psychiatry, providing assessment and ongoing treatment for adults with a range of psychiatric conditions, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, and other complex presentations.
His practice emphasises continuity of care and, where appropriate, longer-term therapeutic engagement.
Dr Korman completed his medical degree at the University of Queensland and undertook specialist training through the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.
His training included experience in general adult psychiatry, community psychiatry, consultation-liaison psychiatry, forensic psychiatry, psychiatry of old age, and child and adolescent settings.
He has worked in both public and private hospital environments, including senior roles at The Prince Charles Hospital and Ramsay Clinic New Farm.
Since 2010, Dr Korman has worked in full-time private practice. He has held long-standing governance roles in private hospital psychiatry, including service on the Medical Advisory Committee at Ramsay Clinic New Farm and, from 2023 to 2025, served as Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee. He has supervised psychiatry trainees and psychotherapy cases across both public and private settings.
Dr Korman has overseen the Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) program at Ramsay Clinic New Farm since 2010.
He has formal training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Transference-Focused Psychotherapy and continues in ongoing advanced psychotherapy supervision.
In addition to clinical practice, Dr Korman has been a member of the General Medical Assessment Tribunal with the Queensland Office of Industrial Relations since 2019.
He has training and experience in the assessment of permanent psychiatric impairment and in work at the interface of mental health, occupational functioning, and industrial systems.
