Medico-legal Assessments

Dr Sam Korman is a consultant psychiatrist with experience in medico-legal assessment and decision-making within statutory and industrial frameworks.

He has served as a member of the General Medical Assessment Tribunal with the Queensland Office of Industrial Relations since 2019, contributing to determinations involving psychiatric injury, impairment, and work capacity.

Dr Korman has formal training in the Queensland Guidelines for the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment (Psychiatric and Psychological Disorders) and experience in the assessment of permanent psychiatric impairment in a medico-legal context.

He is able to provide Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs), including structured psychiatric assessment and the preparation of medico-legal reports for insurers, self-insurers, employers, and legal practitioners.

His clinical background in general adult psychiatry and his long-standing private practice inform a balanced, evidence-based approach to medico-legal work.
